 About Alice Scott

These watercolors depict vegetables and herbs growing with gems and

other precious materials. My hope is to show how sacred each plant is.

Traditionally in many religions, objects of importance sere surrounded

with metal and stones. In these paintings, each vegetable and herb

becomes a little shrine or reliquary when embedded with gems. Through

painting, it has been wonderful to see that even garnets and diamonds

pale in comparison to the depth and tones found in an ordinary ear of

corn.
